Rules and Conditions

  1. The Corsley Show Society accepts no responsibility for injury or damage to persons, property or animals from any cause whatsoever.
  2. In all cases the judge's decision is final.
  3. No galloping outside rings. No cantering or trotting outside rings except in the practice arena. Competitors may be asked to leave if found breaking this rule.
  4. A local competitor shall be the rider (not horse) whose usual address lies within the parishes of Corsley, Chapmanslade, Horningsham or East Woodlands. Those eligible must provide and wear a white armband.
  5. The committee reserves the right to cancel or alter any Class.
  6. The committee reserves the right to refuse any entry without stating a reason.
  7. Current British safety hat standards (EN1384, PAS015) must be worn and properly fastened at all times whether competing or not. Heeled shoes or boots must also be worn at all times.
  8. The committee reserves the right to eliminate competitors, if the judge feels that the horse/pony is being cruelly treated. e.g. excessive use of hands, whip and/or spurs or the use of bad language or deem the horse unfit to compete. Furthermore, can ask that competitor to leave the showfield immediately if they choose to do so.
  9. The winner of each cup is responsible for suitably engraving it and for returning the cup or trophy to the Secretary of the Corsley Horse and Pony Show at least two weeks before the 2012 Corsley Show, in a clean and sound condition.
  10. In all Classes, if there are only four or less entries, only first and second prizes will be given.
  11. Jumping Classes will be run under BSJA rules.
  12. No horselpony may be ridden in the same class by a different rider.
  13. No horse under 4 years old is to be brought to the Show ground.
  14. The age of riders is taken as at 1st January 2011.
  15. Horses, riders, runners and dogs may enter Class 3 more than once, provided they are part of a `different combination'.
  16. Classes 21 and 22 will be run under British Dressage Guidelines.
  17. Passports should be brought with the horse to the show and may be asked for.
  18. No pushchairs/wheelchairs allowed in the horse area. Viewing is available in the walkway between rings.
  19. Only competing horses allowed on the show ground. Anyone found bringing a horse that is not entered in a class will be asked to leave.
  20. No alcohol shall be brought into or consumed within the horse and pony area.
  21. No Stallions allowed on the showfield.
  22. Horses or ponies may not take part in more than three main ring jumping classes.

Note:

It is not a rule or condition but the Committee advises that all horses/ponies attending shows and so mixing with other horses, should be vaccinated against equine influenza.

Ring 1 - Show Jumping

Prizes: £8, £6, £4

Commencing 9.00 a.m. prompt

Rosettes to 6th place

Entry fee: Classes 1,2,3,4,5 and 6 £5.00

  1. Cooper & Tanner Novice Jumping. Open to combinations never to have been placed 1st or 2nd in any jumping competition. Max Height 2ft 3ins in first round. Winner receives Benalfa Shield. Best Local competitor W P R Sandoe challenge cup
  2. Wadswick Country Store Jumping. 2ft 6 ins in first round. Highest placed rider 12 years and under receives The Riding Shop Challenge Cup. Best Local Competitor. Mole Valley Plate
  3. Pointings Saddlery Horse and Hound. Max Height 2ft 6” (for the horses) (lower for the dogs!) combinations or horse and hound with riders and runners to jump two timed courses. Winner receives the Zebedee cup. Special prize for the best local combinations . See rule 15 for this class.
  4. Garston Veterinary Group Jumping 2ft 9 ins in first round Highest placed rider 14 years and under receives the Cooper and Tanner Trophy. Best local competitor Munro Plate.
  5. The Equitrans Accumulator Run under British Showjumping guidelines, horses to jump over varying height of fences from 2ft 3 to 3ft. Riders can choose the fences they wish to jump under a timed course gaining different values for different fences. The rider with the highest accumulation of points wins. Winner to receive the Equitrans Petpetual Challenge Trophy and also replicas to be presented to first three in class.
  6. The Chris Spender Chase me Charlie Open to all. Winner to receive the Merkin Cup.
  7. Longhorn Western Riding Open. Max height 3ft 3ins Winner receives The G A Bayman Trophy. Best local competitor L V Fitzpatrick Cup.

Ring 2 - Best Turnout & riding Horses

Prizes: £8, £6, £4

  1. J & K Burton Animal Feeds Best Tophy Highest placed rider 14 years and under receives the Sleeman-Hiscock Trophy Highest placed Rider 15 years and Over to receive the Vincents Trophy.
  2. Misson Man Riding Horse. 15hh and over. Winner receives the W Hoskins Challenge Cup. Will not be required to jump. May be ridden by the judge. Owner of the horse with the best shod horse in this event will receive the “Cornishfaer” Trophy
  3. 10. Coates & Parker Mountain & Moorland May be ridden by judge. Winner receives the Coates & Parker Challenge cup.
  4. Coates & Parker Mountain & Moorland. May be ridden by the judge Winner receives the Coates & Parker Challenge Cup.
  5. Mole Valley Farmers Best Riding Cob Open to all Class may be split 14.2 and under 14.2 and over May be ridden by judge. Winner receives the John Jackson Cup.
  6. Fancy Dress. Winner receives the Chatfield Rose Bowl. NB Competitors must wear current safety standard hard hats if mounted. Rosettes to all competitors.

Ring 2 - Working Hunters & Ponies

Prizes: £8, £6, £4

Commencing 2.00pm. prompt

Rosettes to 6th place

Entry Fee: £5.00

Special rosette will be awarded to the best local competitor

  1. Harris and Hill Vets Open Working Hunter. Horses over 14.2hh May be ridden by Judge. Max height of jumps 2ft 9”. Winner receives the Harris and Hill Challenge Cup.
  2. J & G Vehicle repairs Working Pony. Ponies 14.2hh and under Max height of jumps 2ft 3ins Winner receives the Longhedge Cup.
  3. Downlands Equestrian Centre Championships For 1st and 2nd prizewinners in Classes 14 and 15 for the V C Boulton Challenge Cup
  4. Double Bubble – pairs relay. Max height 2ft 6, two riders and horse combinations to jump over the working hunter course one at a time in relay with their combined scores and time counting .

Ring 3

Prizes: £8, £6, £4

Commencing 9.30 a.m. prompt

Entry Fee: £5.00

Special rosette will be awarded for the best local competitor in each class

  1. James Twinn Property Consultancy Leading Rein Pony Rider7 years and under. Most suitablelead rein pony judged on manners not conformation. Rossettes for all competitors. Winner receives the W J Jones Challenge cup
  2. Roger Patch First Ridden Pony. Riders 10 years and under. NOT to be led. Most suitable first ridden pony judged on manners and not conformation.Winner receives the Henry Edwards Memorial Cup
  3. Family Pony. Suitable for a child or small adult to ride 13hh to 15hh May be asked to jump, do a show. Winner receives the James Guy Memorial Trophy
  4. Veterans For horses and ponies 15 years old or over. May be led or ridden, Class may be split.. Rosettes for all. Winner receives the Mrs V Bowmaster Memorial Cup. Please note that proof of age may be asked for.
  5. Coloured Class Coloured Horse and pony to be judged on Colours and Markings, Confirmation and Manners. May be ridden or In hand

Ring 3 - DRESSAGE

Prizes: £8, £6, £4

Commencing at approx 1.30 p.m.

Rosettes to 6th place in each class. The Cross Keys Trophy will be awarded to the highest percentage by a local rider.

Entry Fee: £6.00

Entries for classes 22 may be restricted and should be pre-entered. Times will be available between 7-9 on Friday 26thAugust on 01373-832004. There may be spaces on the day depending on entries.

  1. The Tulsi Travel Company percentage dressage, to be judged as one class. Riders may choose from Prelim 1 2006, Prelim 18 2002 or British Dressage Introductory A (a walk and trot test) Maximum of three test per rider Winner receives the Leslie Firman-Ford memorial plate Highest placed rider under 16 receives the ‘Vall Carlos’ trophy

 

Ring 4 - CLEAR ROUND JUMPING

Rosettes for all clear rounds

approx 9.15 a.m. – 12.00 noon

Entries on the field – Entry fee £3.00

Height of the fences will be raised during the morning. All riders must be suitably dressed for the ring and all riders must have a number to enter clear round. Numbers are available at Secretaries Tent at a cost of £2.00 towards first Aid Cover.

Ring 4 - Mini Jumping

Prizes: £5, £4, £3

Commencing at approx 12.30

Special rosette for the best local competitor in each class

Entry Fee: £4.00

  1. Sandoes Chartered Surveyors Minimus jumping. Riders 8 years and under (must be led) Winner to receive the Candy Memorial Cup
  2. Mini Jumping. Riders 10 years and under. May NOT be led and must NOT have entered class 23. Winner receives the Chard Trophy
  3. Mini Pairs Jumping. Riders 10 years and under. Two Riders and Two ponies to jump two timed rounds with their combined scores and times to count. Winners receive the Val Sandoe Challenge Cups (a cup for each rider)
